At the ends of 2013, many New Yorkers gathered in Times Square to greet the arrival of New Year, there are 30,000 LED lights illuminate the square. Besides adopted traditional electric power, those LED lights also can be powered by bicycling. Government included those six “Citi Bikes” as a part of Times Square power system, pedestrians can go ride a few minutes to provide electricity for the square s.

According to Citi Bikes spokesman Ed Skyler said pedestrians ride 1 hour can produce about 75W power, he added: “If everyone can do that, then the Earth will become brighter.”
