Cooper Lighting's Photometric Laboratory awarded continuing NVLAP accreditation14 Apr 2011Continuing NVLAP accreditations have been awarded to Cooper Lighting's Photometric Laboratory, including complete LM-79 testing for SSL luminaires.Cooper Lighting, a division of Cooper Industries plc (NYSE: CBE), has received continuing National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) accreditation (NVLAP Lab Code 200050-0) for solid-state lighting (SSL) test methods in energy-efficient lighting products. The accrediatation was awarded to Cooper's Photometric Laboratory, part of its LED Innovation Center.

NVLAP is administered by the National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST) and provides an unbiased third-party evaluation to testing and calibration laboratories. As the LED marketplace rapidly expands, it becomes increasingly important for customers to obtain accurate photometric results quickly. Cooper Lighting's in-house NVLAP accredited lab gives customers the advantage of faster results with the highest reliability.

Notably, Cooper Lighting is listed with LM-79 accreditation under photometric measurements for Solid State Lighting Luminaires - Total Flux Measurements (Luminous Efficacy) and Solid State Lighting Luminaires - Luminous Intensity Measurements. In addition, Cooper is accredited for Solid State Lighting Luminaires – Color Characteristics Measurements. Cooper Lighting is one of the earliest luminaire manufacturers to achieve this complete SSL accreditation.

"We are very pleased to have received these NVLAP accreditations, further demonstrating that our world-class LED Innovation Center is providing industry-leading solutions to challenging market needs," said Mark Eubanks, President of Cooper Lighting. "The NVLAP accreditation certifies that the photometric results we produce will match results from any of the Department of Energy's recognized laboratories."

Cooper Lighting's LED Innovation Center, located in Peachtree City, GA, is home to the research, design, validation and manufacturing of proprietary LED and other advanced lighting technologies.

NVLAP accreditation is granted upon successful completion of a detailed application, assessment and testing process and is available to commercial laboratories, manufacturers' in-house laboratories, university laboratories and federal, state and local government laboratories. Accreditation indicates that a laboratory has demonstrated that it operates in accordance with NVLAP management and technical requirements.
